THE HEIRS/Inheritors Episode 5

THE HEIRS EPISODE 5

KIM Tan runs towards the kitchen to see for himself if the person living in the mansion is indeed Cha Eun Sang.  He stands by the door of the dirty kitchen.  He musters all his courage and then very slowly, Kim Tan opens the door just enough for him to peek.  There, right in the middle of the kitchen is the woman who has stirred his heart – Cha Eun Sang.  Holding a glass of water, Cha Eun Sang is in the kitchen drinking while texting.  Kim Tan couldn’t believe it.  He watches her do some work in the kitchen before she turns off the lights and leaves using the other door.  Kim Tan did not make a move.  He was speechless.  He returns to his room confused.  Then he remembers seeing Park Hee Nam wearing the California shirt and Eun Sang’s post regarding her wish that Jeguk would collapse.  Then the burden of truth is written on Kim Tan’s face.  Later, Eun Sang is in her school uniform running so she won’t be late.  Unknown to her, Kim Tan has waited for her to confirm once more if she is real.  Seeing her running towards the gate, Kim Tan now believes everything is real.  He even checks the maids’ quarters to further confirm.  When he returns to the kitchen, he sees a note from Park Hee Nam on the ref when his mother calls for the maid.  Madam Han is surprised to see her son but her mood changes when she learns that the mute maid went to market.  Kim Tan asks his mother about her brother whom he haven’t seen home since he arrived.  Her mother explains that Kim Won is usually out because of the business.  Kim Tan, who sounds like he dearly loves his elder brother, says he thought he would see his brother more often when he is back in Seoul.  His mother reminds him that Kim Won hates him but Kim Tan says he likes his brother.  His mother invites him to go out shop with her but Kim Tan refused saying he needs to go somewhere else.  It turns out, Kim Tan needs to visit the second wife, Jeong Ji-suk who reminds him to behave and never think about acting like he did in middle school.  Then she asks him who among his parents ordered his return.  Kim Tan replied it is his will.  Jeong Ji-suk tells Kim Tan that she heard Kim Won left home as soon as he came back.  Kim Won, meanwhile, is having a date with Jeon Hyun-joo.  He gave her the necklace with a wishbone pendant.  When Kim Won returns to the hotel, an attendant advises him that he has a visitor in his room.  His room was ordered to be opened by Chairman Kim.  Kim Won’s guest is none other than his brother,  Kim Tan who has been waiting for him but no Kim Won appeared in the hotel room.  Back at home, Kim Tan is having his late dinner while Madam Han inquires why did he skip dinner.  Kim Tan praises the food and in middle of his conversation with his mother, Park Hee Nam serves another food on the table.  Kim Tan asks his mother if the girl who lives in their house is the daughter of Park Hee Nam.  Madam Han confirms.  Kim Tan also asked when did they start living in the mansion.  Madam Han explains that Park Hee Nam has been working for three years in the mansion while the daughter just recently moved in.  She adds that it is fortunate that the girl can speak and then remember that she needs another bottle of wine.  Madam Han calls out Eun Sang who answers from the kitchen.  This puts Kim Tan in panic and his reaction is funny that he doesn’t know what to do or where to go.  Lee Min Ho’s reaction on this scene is so believable – that he is purely in panic making the situation light and funny.  When Eun Sang arrives, Madam Han is surprised to find her son disappeared.  She then orders Eun Sang to get her a bottle of wine.  The young lady obliged.  On her way back to the house, Eun Sang is surprised when the lights and even the fountain in the yard suddenly turned on.  She looks around wondering what just happened. Behind a tree not far from where Eun Sang stands is Kim Tan.  He watches her as she enters the house.  Meanwhile, Secretary Yoon remembers his conversation with Esther Lee at the elevator as he bottoms up his drink then orders for a new glass.  Kim Won then arrives asking the waiter to double the order.  He joined Yoon Jae Hoo in drinking.  The two are having a conversation about Kim Tan when Esther Lee together with Chairman Choi walked in.  Jae Hoo and Esther’s eyes meet making them both speechless.  Choi called Kim Won.  Choi, Kim Won and Esther were greeting each other when the Chairman notices and asks Won’s company.  Kim Won introduces Jae Hoo to everyone.  Chairman Choi invites them to have sometime together.  Jae Hoo and Esther exchange glances.  During their conversation, Chairman Choi and Kim Won are talking about Won’s new prospect in Africa.  Won shares that Jae Hoo is against it.  Jae Hoo explains why.  But Chairman Choi butts in and says something that belittles low ranking officers.  Yoon Jae Hoo is too courageous to fear him.  Jae Hoo answers back and then excuses himself to call his son.  Chairman Choi and Kim Won’s conversation continues.  Esther gets a chance to excuse herself.  She sees Jae Hoo and apologizes for the behavior of her fiancé.  Jae Hoo apologizes, too.  Esther didn’t understand it until Jae Hoo grabs and kisses her.  Cha Eun Sang is in school the following morning.  The teacher is reading a problem, which mentions the landmark Hollywood.  Hearing this, Eun Sang seems to drift somewhere else.  The teacher even noticed and asked her the next question.  Eun Sang answered it correctly. The class soon ends. One of her classmates asks Eun Sang what’s with her.  Eun Sang explains she is just tired because she moved to a new house that is two hours from school.  She tells her classmate to wake her up when the teacher comes in.  She tries to take a nap but her mind wanders off to her ‘midnight summer’s dream.’  She remembers Kim Tan and all their adventures.  Dismissal time. Eun Sang and her classmate are on their way out when they noticed that the schoolgirls are crowded at the gate.  When Eun Sang managed to get through the crowd, she is in awe to see Kim Tan in front of him.  The man she remembered and dreamed of earlier has just removed his shades making the schoolgirls squeal.  Then Kim Tan asks the crowd to send him the girl who looks like have good kidneys.  Eun Sang steps forward.  Conceited as he may sound, he tells Eun Sang that she looks like she is glad to see him. But Eun Sang clarifies that she was surprised.  Eun Sang inquires how did Kim Tan get there.  Kim Tan explains that he knows someone in the school so he came to see her and he is looking at her now.  With this cheesy line, the schoolgirls are jealous now of Eun Sang.  Kim Tan said he has something to ask Eun Sang who then complaints that he has a lot of questions when the heir cuts her off to say that his question is not about her.  He asks for Chan Young’s number which puzzles Eun Sang why would Kim Tan needs her bestfriend’s number.  He tells Eun Sang that he is interested.  When Eun Sang asks why, he explains because he is pretty.  He adds that he is about to die because he couldn’t forget about him.  Of course, Kim Tan is really referring to Eun Sang and not Chan Young.  Naïve Eun Sang answers that Chan Young has a girlfriend, Kim Tan’s ex-girlfriend Lee Bo Na.  Then she bids goodbye.  Kim Tan tells her to stop when he asks her politely.  But Eun Sang just ignored her.  He repeated it but Eun Sang just walked away.  At work, Cha Eun Sang is obviously quite happy about what transpired in school.  Then she receives a call from Chan Young.  She tells him that she is in the middle of work but Chan Young asks if she is working how did she get her SNS updated.  He also asked what’s with the photo she just posted.  Then Eun Sang checks her SNS and sees the cute photo of Kim Tan posted on her wall!  The photo says that Kim Tan is really handsome.  Eun Sang is annoyed then she noticed that the photo was taken in their shop.  She checks their shop and there she find in one corner the man who keeps invading her SNS. Kim Tan waves at her.  Eun Sang confronts him for not logging out but Kim Tan intends not to log out.  Eun Sang says its okay because it will be faster to just delete the account.  When she turned around, Kim Tan announces that he will order now prompting Eun Sang to turn around and check if the manager is looking at them.  She tells Kim Tan that he needs to place his order at the counter.  However, the stubborn heir asks her to take his order instead.  Then he orders Chan Young’s number – iced.  To get rid of Kim Tan, Cha Eun Sang gives in and saves his number to Kim Tan’s phone.  As soon as she is done, Kim Tan reminds her that when she was in the US, she said she couldn’t memorize the number because he changed it.  He asks if he already memorized it.  While saying these, Kim Tan has already dialed Chan Young’s number.  In front of Eun Sang, Kim Tan is talking to Chan Young and asks for Eun Sang’s number.  Eun Sang tries to stop him but hearing what he just asked from her best friend, Eun Sang keeps herself silent.  Kim Tan is still telling Chan Young to Eun Sang’s number when Eun Sang grabs the phone and apologizes to her best friend on the other line.  Eun Sang asks Kim Tan what is he doing but the latter tells her that in the US, she says thank you often but in Korea, she is different.  Kim Tan explains he feels that he will need to contact her so he wants to know her number.  Eun Sang asks why would they need to contact each other, Kim Tan gives a vague answer.  He said “look at the second floor, turn around and look” but Eun Sang couldn’t understand.  Kim Tan asks if she is curious, then he snatches Eun Sang’s phone to call up his number as he leaves the coffee shop.  Eun Sang follows to get her phone back. Kim Tan says he will explain later his vague statement and will log out to Eun Sang’s SNS to make things even with them.  Then Kim Tan leaves.  Eun Sang is still asking him something and tells him to stop but Kim Tan, just like what she did earlier, ignores her.  As she was pleading him to stop, she gets a call from Kim Tan.  He tells her that he would call her later because he needs to meet someone.  Eun Sang asks how long is Kim Tan staying in the country.  Tan asks if she wishes him to leave.  Eun Sang shares she wants to buy him a meal before he leaves.  When the conceited Kim Tan is back teasing Eun Sang that she is the one who made him stay, Eun Sang hung up.  Kim Tan joins Secretary Yoon in the market.  The two men talked about their families.  This shows that the secretary is in Kim Tan’s side.  When Kim Tan is back at the house, he greets his father.  He sees a man reporting to Chairman Kim.  When Kim Tan left the room, the staff reported to the Chairman.  Apparently, the man is a spy or investigator hired by Chairman to check on the Kim brothers.  He showed some photos to Chairman.  The photos show Kim Won meeting Hyun Joo and even Kim Tan talking to Eun Sang back in the US.  The investigator explained that Eun Sang’s stay in US mansion was due to some circumstances.  The man also showed a photo of Kim Tan and Eun Sang at school earlier.  Eun Sang meanwhile is sleeping with her notes and book in the bed.  Her mother is organizing her things when she noticed a college aspiration form which Eun Sang answered the boxes with no interest except to have a job as her future dream.  Park Hee Nam feels sad about this.  She cried.  The following morning, Kim Tan is walking back home from his jogging when Myung Soo sees him.  He uses his weird welcome joke to his friend – that is if Kim Tan bullied him in middle school.  Jo Myung Soo if he is in the country to stay, Kim Tan confirms.  He explains to Myung Soo that he still has jetlag and he needs to adjust to the time zone.  Kim Tan asks if he is going to school, Myung Soo remembers that he is late.  He asks Kim Tan that his family didn’t move out because another kid came out from his house.  Kim Tan seems to understand what Myung Soo was referring to as he quips that life would get busy.    When he turns around to enter the house, the gate just opened revealing Eun Sang in her uniform.  Eun Sang asks how did Kim Tan know about where she lives.  Kim Tan pretends he didn’t know.  He asks why they are running.  Eun Sang holds Kim Tan’s arm and drags him to the street saying there are CCTV cameras all over the place and they should leave because they might meet the second son of the family.  Kim Tan comments about the second son of the Kim family saying the guy is handsome.  Eun Sang turns to him with great surprise.  It seems she was about to make comment when she noticed her hand holding Kim Tan’s arm.  Eun Sang immediately removes her hand but Kim Tan offers it anew saying she can continue dragging him along.  She asks if Kim Tan lives around the neighborhood.  Kim Tan confirms and asked if she really wants to know where he lives because it would definitely surprise her.  Eun Sang then tries to explain why she is living in the big mansion when Kim Tan knew her plight in the US.  But Kim Tan butts in saying he is not curious about it.  He is more curious about something else.  He leans closer to Eun Sang and asks when is she going to buy him a meal.  Eun Sang said when the time comes and reminds Kim Tan that he did not call her.  Kim Tan, who is pleased, teases Eun Sang that she is waiting for his call.  The latter immediately bids goodbye, as she would be late in school.
At the Jeguk High, Myung Soo is looking for Lee Bo Na.  He finds her walking with Chan Young.  Myung Soo breaks the news that Kim Tan is back in Seoul and then takes a photo of Bo Na’s reaction.  He tells Chan Young to watch out before he walks out.  Seeing Bo Na’s uneasiness, Chan Young asks his girlfriend what’s with her.  Lee Bo Na lies saying she is singing with her head.  Then she asked what did Myung Soo said, Chan Young shares Kim Tan is back.  Lee Bo Na says that the kid Chan Young met in LA.  Then Bo Na makes up some lies as an excuse as she slowly walks out.  Chan Young asks his girlfriend the name of the song with the word lie in every end of the title.  Bo Na then proceeds to where Yoo Rachel is. She confronts Rachel for not telling her that Kim Tan is back in Seoul.  Rachel, who pretends that she knows that Kim Tan is back, tells Bo Na to just keep an eye on her boyfriend who met a girl in the US.  But Bo Na explains it is not just another girl, its Chan Young’s friend.  She said she knows the whereabouts of her boyfriend unlike Kim Tan. Lee Bo Na is worried that Kim Tan will hit Chan Young.   And if she gets dumped, Bo Na promises to use all her wealth to take revenge on Rachel.  When Bo Na left, Rachel calls Kim Tan but couldn’t reach him.  When Rachel proceeds to her locker, she sees YoungDo blocking it.  She tells him to move but gets annoyed when Young Do confirms Kim Tan being back in the city.  Young Do analyzes annoyance that Rachel is not aware about Kim Tan’s return.  Then Kim Tan calls Rachel just to tell her that she is in town.  Kim Tan hangs up but Rachel pretends she is still speaking with her fiancé as if her boyfriend wants to meet her later.  Rachel tells YoungDo that she will meet Kim Tan but her brother-to-be doesn’t believe her.  He tells her that in case they will really meet, he wants to ask if Kim Tan’s mother is doing well.  At the Kim mansion, Park Hee Nam had just served tea when Chairman asks him some questions including how long has she been working in the mansion.  The chairman tells her to sit down when Madam Han enters the room.  Panic strikes her.  Madam Han suddenly stutters and volunteers to explain when she gets a glimpse of what Park Hee Nam wrote.  Madam Han answers for Park Hee Nam and corrected the misunderstanding she mentioned earlier.  Chairman then asks about Park Hee Nam’s daughter.  Madam Han answers for the servant saying the girl is in her 11th grade but when asked about her academics, Madam Han orders Hee Nam to write it.  Madam Han gets surprised to read that Eun Sang belongs to the top five of her class.  Chairman Kim commends Eun Sang for juggling work and school but still makes it to get good grades.  Then the Chairman offers to send Eun Sang to Jeguk High School under the Jeguk Foundation.  The Chairman hopes that Park Hee Nam will think about his gift as his gratitude for her service in the mansion.  Park Hee Nam immediately accepts and bows to the Chairman as gratitude.  At school, Eun Sang is surprised when she learned that she would transfer to a new school.  Her teacher told her that Park Hee Namn processed all the documents for her transfer to Jeguk.  Eun Sang is also surprised to learn that she will transfer to Jeguk High School where a good connection is greatly needed to get in.  At home, Eun Sang confronts her mother about her transfer.  Park Hee Nam explains that the Chairman is being kind and this is an opportunity that might never come again.  But Eun Sang gets mad because her mother is not realistic.  Given their status in life, they cannot afford the daily expenses for her schooling.  The two argues but Park Hee Nam enlightens her daughter about the good effects of being a Jeguk High graduate adding that later, people would not look down on them.  Thus, she insists on Eun Sang to go to Jeguk High School despite her resistance.  They are still discussing when another maid of the mansion knocks at the door.  She tells the Chairman is calling for Eun Sang.  At the Chairman’s workroom, Eun Sang receives an explanation from Chairman Kim about the scholarship grant given by his company.  Eun Sang is declining the scholarship but the Chairman convinces her when he mentions the chances of studying abroad – something that Eun Sang dream of.    Meanwhile, Young Do is back at home.  He tries to play with his dog but was eventually informed that he has a dinner meeting to attend to, something he is not aware of.  He then calls Rachel confirming if he is having a dinner.  Rachel, on the other line, tells him to hurry adding it annoys her to wait for him.  Apparently, the two will be having a dinner with their parents.  However, Chairman Choi is late.  Esther tries to lure YoungDo with a gift for his dog.  This surprise YoungDo but his remark even shocked Esther.  YoungDo said he didn’t know that Esther had gone to their house and had seen his dog.  Esther asked him about the dog.  Youngdo explains that after his mom left and his father had seen these women who frequents their house, he managed to buy a dog using the allowances he got from his father’s women.  He adds that the dog is smart and comes from a good breed.  He stressed that when he tells his dog to bite, it bites the women who came to their house.  However, YoungDo shares that the dog doesn’t bite the people who don’t own their stocks.  He challenges Esther to invest in their stock if she is upset that the dog didn’t bite her.  Then Chairman Choi enters the room.  He declares that he will not give any excuse so they should start dinner.  Esther, however, tells her fiancé that YoungDo has an engagement he needs to attend to and cannot stay for dinner.  Rachel seconded saying he cannot cancel it and she must be there as well.  The young students bid farewell with Youngdo saying he likes the gift given by Esther.  At the entrance of the hotel, Rachel confronts Youngdo for just leaving her.  She demands him to give her a ride.  Meanwhile, Eun Sang is at the Jeguk uniform store checking the prices.  She is surprised to hear the prices of the uniforms.  She just finished checking the store when her paths cross with Rachel and Youngdo who just arrived.  Rachel walks towards Eun Sang and confronts her.  Rachel observes Eun Sang is not avoiding her to which the latter reply that there is no reason to.  Rachel reveals she should avoid her because Kim Tan is back in Korea and her intuition sadly happened.  Rachel adds that based on Eun Sang’s reaction, she is aware that Kim Tan is in South Korea.  Then Eun Sang asked Rachel if she is done.  She asked her not to move.  Without a fuss, Eun Sang took Rachel’s nametag.  This scene surprised Youngdo.  For Eun Sang it is just a retaliation of what Rachel did to her on the plane.  She said she is just going to get her nametag.  If Rachel wants to get it, she knows her number.  Then Eun Sang walks out.  Rachel calls her to stop but she didn’t.  Youngdo blocks her path but a brazen Eun Sang faces him leading him to give way.  Youngdo instead blocks her sister-to-be and explained that she lost for now.  He reminds her to buy her uniform as he has a new appointment. Youngdo runs after Eun Sang and blocks her path again.  Youngdo is curious of her relationship with Kim Tan and Yoo Rachel but Eun Sang says she has no relationship with them.  A more curious Youngdo asks why did she take Rachel’s nametag and why was her personal information with Rachel?  A feisty Eun Sang asks what does that got to do with Youngdo who clarifies in his toughie way that he is not requesting for an answer.  He tells her that they are on the same side but Eun Sang tells him that they just met a few minutes ago.  But Youngdo revealed he had seen her before.  Youngdo evades answering Eun Sang’s question on where they met.  He adds she has a rare ability for making Rachel reacts like that.  Eun Sang declines the offer and tells Youngdo to move.  Youngdo asks if he is blocking her way because the road is wide.  Before Eun Sang totally leaves, Youngdo tells her that she can get her number from Rachel.  She ignores him and then dials Chan Young’s number.  The two meet the following day after school.  Cha Eun Sang inquires to Yoon Chan Young some information about his school.  She soon informs her friend that she will be joining his school.  Although Chan Young doesn’t want her to be in Jeguk, he doesn’t want her to let this chance pass for Eun Sang’s future.  Eun Sang feels like she gets an approval from her friend.  Kim Tan is at the cellar.  He is checking the wine and then sees his old things.  He is browsing through them when someone opens the door.  It’s Cha Eun Sang.  She is on the phone talking to Chan Young.  She tells him that she sent the plane ticket fee without interest.  She adds it is the end now for America.  Then she recalls the day she left a note at the bulletin board.  When her thoughts returned to present, Eun Sang asks Chan Young what does he mean again.  He tells Chan Young that America is too far from her maid’s room now.  Then she asks her friend to hang up.  Unknown to Eun Sang, Kim Tan heard the conversation. He managed to hide behind a wall without Eun Sang noticing him.  Eun Sang is walking along the courtyard when she gets a call.  When she answers, the man greets him with Hello, Sidney greeting.  Cha Eun Sang knew its Kim Tan.  She asks if this is his reason why he took his number.  She said it is not scary at all.  But Kim Tan orders her to look at the second floor. She search what’s on the second floor and there she sees her dreamcatcher, the one she gave to Kim Tan.  Then Kim Tan tells her to turn around.  There she sees the man who makes her heart flutter standing.  He walks towards her.  Eun Sang is speechless.  Eun Sang is puzzled.  Then she asks if by chance Kim Tan is the second son of the family.  Kim Tan confirms.  Eun Sang reconfirms if he is the second son of the Jeguk’s, he said yes.  Teary-eyed, Eun Sang asks if he knew that she lives in the mansion when they met in front of the house.  Kim Tan confirms.  Then she asks if Kim Tan knows that she lives in the mansion’s maid’s quarters.  Kim Tan pauses before he confirms it.  Astonished and hurt, Cha Eun Sang turn around to walk away but before she could even step farther, Kim Tan calls her.  He tells her that did he probably miss her.  This made Eun Sang cry even more and walks towards her room.  Kim Tan, meanwhile, was left alone standing; teary-eyed and just like Eun Sang, looks burdened by the situation.  Inside her room, Cha Eun Sang couldn’t concentrate with her lessons.  She keeps on crying.  Kim Tan, on the other hand, is contemplating when his mother enters his room carrying a set of uniform.  Madam Han tells his son that Chairman Kim wants him to go to school starting immediately.  Madam Han adds that the daughter of their maid belongs to the top five of her class so he should measure up.  Their maid’s daughter will be transferring to their school.  Madam Han explains that Chairman Kim has become gracious and kind.  Madam Han tells his son to ignore Eun Sang and greetings should be done by people of similar statuses only.  The following day, Cha Eun Sang is at the Jeguk campus.  She is amazed at how each student is being sent with their luxury vehicles while she is walking in a casual outfit.  She listens to the conversation of the students around her and gets startled of the huge amount of money they are mentioning!  Everyone is in uniform except Cha Eun Sang.  One of the students noticed her and this caught the attention of everyone.  Rachel, who is getting her things in her locker, sees her.  Eun Sang turns around when she heard Lee Bo Na asking what is she doing in their school.  She tells her she is a transfer student.  Rachel walks towards them asking if she really transferred and did not come to their school to return her tag.  Rachel asks then what does Eun Sang’s family do.  Kang Ye-sol joins the conversation while Jo Myung-soo asks who is the new face.  Learning Eun Sang is a new student, Myung-soo warmly introduces himself.  However, a commotion stirs the students and they are all talking about someone who just returned.  The people are running towards the same direction.  The students around Eun Sang also left her alone.  The kids gather around Kim Tan who is at the entrance of the building.  When he sees Lee Bo Na, he greets her.  He also greets Rachel who tells her that even if she doesn’t stare, everyone knows they are engaged.  He turns to Yoon Chan Young and asked why is he in school.  Kim Tan emphasize that it is part of employees benefits.  Lee Hyo Shin, meanwhile, is at the rooftop getting a nice view of the situation.  At the grounds, Choi Young Do together with his minions walk towards the direction of Kim Tan.  The two meets and the tension rise as Kim Tan and Youngdo stare at each other.  Breaking the tension for a moment is the funny Jo Myung Soo who was searching for Choi Youngdo but backs out when he finds himself in between Youngdo and Tan.  Kim Tan breaks the silence.  He tells Youngdo that he misses his friend.  Youngdo welcomes him.  But Tan advises him to relax.  He said he is not immediately going to do anything to him.  Youngdo smiles and says they should at least greet each other and the kids will be shocked.  The tension grew stronger as the two stare at each other again.  Then Cha Eun Sang, who is texting her friend Yoon Chan Young, appeared suddenly in the middle of the tension-filled circle.  She stops texting and realized she is in trouble when she sees everyone looking at her.  When she turns to her right, she sees Kim Tan and on her left is Youngdo.  Now, Cha Eun Sang is stuck in the middle of these two men and the entire circle of Jeguk high.
