GU FAMILY BOOK EPISODE 20

Park Tae Seo is having a deal with Ja Hong Myeong.  As a start of their allegiance, Tae Seo must secure the stolen maps at the naval base as Ja Hong Myeong already ordered Jo Kwan Woong’s death.  On the other side of the Hundred Year Inn, Jo Kwan Woong went outside his room after hearing noises then sees guards lifeless on the floor.  Suddenly, a sword is on neck! He believes it was an order from Yoon Seo Hwa.
But before the ninja could even slit his throat, Deputy Seo arrives and kills the ninja in time.  The assistant tells Jo Kwan Woong to evacuate because it’s dangerous.  When they stepped outside, they discovered more dead bodies of men whose lives were sucked out from them. And just as Jo Kwan Woong was about to escape, Wol Ryeong appears in front of them.
Wol Ryeong asks him if Jo Kwan Woong knows him.  Jo Kwan Woong tells him that he saw him die.  Wol Ryeong then asks if he is the reason why he is dead and the reason that drew him at the Hundred Year Inn.
Then Jo Kwan Woong’s men attack Wol Ryeong but the mythical being, while strangling Deputy Seo, asks the retired official who he is he and who made him like that since his memories deplete when he turned into a demon.  Jo Kwan Woong tells Wol Ryeong it’s Yoon Seo Hwa.
Meanwhile, at the academy, Choi Kang Chi is facing Master Dam Pyeong Joon asking him to take off his bracelet and fight him.
On the other side of the Hundred Year Inn, Yoon Seo Hwa asks what is the relationship of Dam Yeo Wool to Kang Chi to which the young lady replied that they are living together at the academy.  When asked why did she see her, Yeo Wool tells her that Yoon Seo Hwa is his mother asking her to return to him. Yeo Wool asks her if she can embrace and look after him and start over.
Choi Kang Chi refused to fight the master but instead of giving him the reason; the master attacks the young man forcing the latter to fight back.  When Kang Chi falls on the ground and gets cornered by the master’s sword, Master Dam tells Kang Chi to defeat him or else he’ll cut and stab him.
Inside the kitchen, Gong Dal explains to Seung about the training of Kang Chi until the swords wear out where one of the two fighters will have to die or get hurt.  In their conversation, Seung gets enlightened that Master Dam is risking his life to make Kang Chi a strong pupil.
Earlier, Gon asks Master Dam why he chose Kang Chi.  The master explains that he’s the only one who can defeat the thousand year demon.  The master believes this is the only thing he can help for someone who must slay his father.  The master added that it was him who turned Kang Chi’s father into that demon. The master tells Gon that if his life can be used to enlighten a disciple,  that would be the best death for a master.  And if its death that would make Kang Chi’s inner potential comes out, then it would be the best.  Then the master orders Gon to bring Kang Chi.

Kang Chi couldn’t  understand why the master is doing this asking the teacher if he still has grudge towards Kang Chi.  The master slits Kang Chi’s arm as answer to his question, provoking the young man to fight back.
Then Kang Chi gives in to the master’s scheme, takes off his bracelet and attacks the master. The following morning, Pil Mok confronts Ja Hong Myeong for sending someone to kill Jo Kwan Woong.  The lady merchant admits she sent them because Park Tae Seo will do the work of Jo Kwan Woong.  But Pil Mok reveals that they can’t still trust Park Tae Seo.
Outside, Jo Kwan Woong confronts Ja Hong Myeong for sending men to kill him.  Then Ja Hong Myeong in a way admits it and calls in Kageshima to end the life of Jo Kwan Woong.  However, Ja Hong Myeong is not aware that the Japanese people he trusted already betrayed her.  The ninjas are aiming their swords at her instead at Jo Kwan Woong!  Pil Mok tells her to take back her orders.
He will continue to obey her as long as the orders are within the bounds of her duties as leader of the Goongbon merchant but Ja Hong Myeong refused.  Park Tae Seo witnessed all these and immediately reported the incident to the masters.
Dam Yeo Wool quietly returns to her room in the morning after visiting Ja Hong Myeong.  She gets surprised to see Yeo Joo inside! The governess has been waiting for her.  Dam Yeo Wool was caught that she didn’t spend the night in her room.
She asks if the governess informed her father, Yeo Joo revealed the master was busy training

since the previous night.   Hearing the ongoing sword training, Yeo
Wool runs outside.  She wanted to stop the sword training but gets blocked by Master Gong Dal.  He explained that it was the Master Dam’s decision.
Meanwhile, Kang Chi wants to retreat but Master Dam wants him to fight with all his strength.  Kang Chi explained that he is not a coward it’s just that he doesn’t want to fight the master.  But Master Dam tells him that if he can’t fight him, then how he will be able to fight against his father.
Then the master explains the wisdom behind his decision to do sword training with Kang Chi – that he is the only one who can defeat his thousand year demon father but with a weak heart, he wont be able to defeat him.  Gon, who has been watching the two, tells Kang Chi that none of them knows the extent of his powers. And that the master is trying to make Kang Chi realize that bringing out the potential depends on one’s will and mind.  Gon adds that for not doing his best, he is insulting the master.
Then the two exhibits a good fight but for the master, Kang Chi’s efforts are not enough. He tells Kang Chi to remember when he mustered all his strength.  Then Kang Chi recalls when he slashed Wol Ryeong while the latter was strangling Yeo Wool and when Choi Ma Reum was being beaten by the guards of Jo Kwan Woong.
Then in just a split second, Kang Chi is already on Master Dam!  But Kang Chi stops from hitting the master leading Master Dam to thrust his sword to him.
Once you decide to attack never hesitate because the lives of the people that must be protected are on the line.
The master added that being strong means to have both a burning heart for justice and a cool head for judgment.  He adds that he can only win if Kang Chi can control his powers.
The master added that as soon as Kang Chi recovers, he must come back in the afternoon. Yeo Wool and Seung run towards Kang Chi to check his condition while Gon reminds him to master all the lessons that Master Dam is teaching him.
Meanwhile at the Hundred year Inn, Ja Ryeong or Pil Mok, gives Jo Kwan Woong his offering as sign of apology and to strengthen their ties.
His gift is a rifle.  Jo Kwan Woong is pleased with the gift but refused to take it for free thereby giving Pil Mok the turtle ship design being built at the Naval base where the Admiral and his men are currently trying the capacity of the machine guns.
More so, the Admiral has ordered the completion of the ship’s blueprint.Choi Kang Chi is contemplating of Master Dam’s words when Yeo Wool comes in and checks his wound.  Kang Chi looks awkward or embarrassed that Yeo Wool is looking at his wound with top untied.  Yeo Wool tells him that it still must have hurt him but Kang Chi, staring at his girlfriend turns speechless.
He ties back his clothes when Yeo Wool reminds him that he should have change.  Feeling more awkward and more embarrassed, Kang Chi turns his back to Yeo Wool to undress.  When he looks back, Yeo Wool is still looking at him.  Yeo Wool turns her back on him but remains seated beside Kang Chi who started undressing.
Kang Chi tries to get his clothes without looking while Yeo Wool, who noticed what her boyfriend is  trying to do helps by pushing the clothes closer to him. As their hands accidentally touched, both Kang Chi and Yeo Wool stopped and stare at each other.  Then Yeo Wool’s eyes fall on Kang Chi’s body which made him embarrassed leading him to immediately get dress.  Yeo Wool, on the other hand, is giggling.
Kang Chi sits closer to Yeo Wool and asks her if she is happy to see a man’s bare body adding he saw her happy.
But Yeo Wool stressed that she doesn’t like any guy’s body to which Kang Chi tease that she is probably happy because it’s his body!  Yeo Wool tells him that he thinks highly of himself.  Then Kang Chi cups Yeo Wool’s face with her cheeks pressed making her lips just out.  Yeo Wool asks him what he is doing when Kang Chi suddenly kisses Yeo Wool’s lips and then hugs her!
Yeo Wool may be surprised but resting on Kang Chi’s arms shows how happy and content she is.  Kang Chi asks her if his boyfriend can really become stronger. If he can handle it.  Yeo wool tells him he is already strong.  By just hugging each other, the two has shown how much they cared for one another.  Then Gon arrives at Kang Chi’s room and opens the door!
No, he didn’t see them in an awkward position. Gon sees the two busy with their interests – Kang Chi is reading while Yeo Wool is stitching!  Then a real uncomfortable situation comes in when Gon tells Kang Chi he has a visitor who suddenly appears on his door – Park Cheong Jo.  When asked what her purpose is, Cheong Jo reveals they received a message that the lady merchant might be in trouble.
At the Hundred Year Inn, Pil Mok is telling Ja Hong Myeong to leave immediately to be able to take the boat that will leave for Osaka at the end of the month.  Ja Ryeong tells her that it was her who first turned her back on them.
Since Yoon Seo Hwa is leaving in the afternoon, both Cheong Jo and Yeo Wool agree that this is the last time Kang Chi will meet his mother. He makes the training as an excuse and was about to leave his room when Yeo Wool tells him that Seo Hwa is his mother whom he waited for 20 years.  He should meet her.
Filled with pain in his heart, Kang Chi said the woman abandoned him in the river, and who claimed that its none of her business whether he would be beaten or strangled to death.  Kang Chi said that the moment she disappeared from his life, he already erased her in his life and calling her a mother is a waster.  All painful reasons an ordinary neglected kid could say. Then he begs Yeo Wool to never mention again his mother.  While Yeo Wool runs after Kang Chi, Cheong Jo was left in the room leaving her gift for Kang Chi.  Park Tae Seo, meanwhile, received a letter from Yoon Seo Hwa.
Jo Kwan Woong enters a storage room than calls Wol Ryung who is standing at the loft.  Jo Kwan Woong is talking to him when he disappears and appears behind the officer’s back asking for Seo Hwa!
But vicious Jo Kwan Woong is hoping to a make a deal with Wol Ryung by giving Seo Hwa.  What Jo Kwan Woong doesn’t understand is Wol Ryung is a totally different  being!  As part of his deal, Wol Ryung tells the wicked officer that he will keep him alive if he tells him where Seo Hwa is.
Meanwhile, Kang Chi visits Ma Bong Chool who is busy playing in town.
He invites him to eat and soon talks about mothers.  Bong Chool gets curious and asks if he gets dumped by “flower man” – Yeo Wool.
Kang Chi is asking Bong Chool who is referring to when Yeo Wool, who believes they are gossiping about her, appears beside Bong Chool. Kang Chi asks Bong Chool is he sees Yeo Wool as a man to which the gang leader affirms it.  Annoyed of the discussion, Yeo Wool twists both the ears of Kang Chi and Bong Chool!  While walking back to the academy, Yeo Wool confess that she met Yoon Seo Hwa the previous night and revealed what they talked about.
Yoon Seo Hwa just left the Hundred Year Inn.  While she is leaving, Jo Kwan Woong is looking on believing their bad relationship is over while Ja Ryeong/Pil Mok ordered a high ranking ninja to kill Seo Hwa. Hearing this, Kageshima tells him not to cross the line but Pil Mok justifies that everything he does is to protect Goongbon merchant.
At the academy, it is time for the face off between Master Dam and Kang Chi.  But before they start, Kang Chi remembers what Yeo Wool shared to her about her mother – that she has never slept in peace for 20 years because thinks she is a sinner who let Wol Ryeong die and she cant even ask forgiveness from Kang Chi because she abandoned him. Then Kang chi asks the master what is the value of the sword to him, the master replied everything.
Then in a very short span of time, Kang Chi strikes the master with his hands leaving Master Dam with a bleeding arm and his sword on the ground.  With blood dripping on his arms, Kang Chi smiles as he wins.
Soon, Kang Chi is running down the stairs.  Then Yeo Wool appears from behind asking if he is going to which Kang chi agrees.  Then Yeo Wool, seeing the three masters behind her, asks her father to let her come with Kang Chi.  Master Dam agrees and in a just a few minutes orders Gon to escort his daughter safely.
While the three are on their way to meet Yoon Seo Hwa, Masters Dam and Gong Dal are in a deep discussion about Kang Chi.  Dam tells Gong Dal that Kang chi has found a way to control his powers, sharing further what happened during the sword training.  He explained what startled him at the end of the fight – without the bracelet, without Yeo Wool, Kang Chi has returned to his human form.  Now that he can control himself, the masters believe it is time to find the Gu Family Book. Kang Chi, Yeo Wool and Gon are running towards the spot where they can meet the entourage of Ja Hong Myeong.
But unknown to them, a group of ninjas are on their way to ambush Kang Chi's mother.  A fight ensued between the ninjas and the entourage protecting Ja Hong Myeong.  Her a
ssistant helps the lady merchant to escape but the ninjas run after them.  The two women were soon caught and as one of the ninjas try to kill Yoon Seo Hwa, her assistant blocks its and gets killed instead.
Seeing Yoon Seo Hwa being saved by her assistant,
the same ninja tries to kill her again but was suddenly hit by an arrow!  The arrow comes from Yeo Wool who walks in with Kang Chi and Master Gon. Seo Hwa asks them to leave but Kang Chi proclaims his personality doesn't sit and watch such situation.  Counting the ninjas on the ground, Kang Chi divides the ninjas to fight among them but Yeo Wool orders him to leave and escort his mother to safety because two are enough to defeat the ninjas.
When the fight begins, three ninjas drag Seo Hwa.  Kang Chi runs after them and saves his mother in time.  Meanwhile, Wol Ryeong is looking at the empty palanquin and the dead bodies on the ground.
Meanwhile, Kang Chi tells his mother to come with him but Seo Hwa refuses saying she needs to kill someone who ruined her family.  Seo Hwa stops when Kang Chi asks him if she doesn't see him the man who came running to save her.  He stressed that he is her son.  Yoon Seo Hwa in between sobs apologizes to her son for being an awful kind of mother.  Then the mother and child finally reconcile and embrace each other.
Meanwhile, Gon and Yeo Wool are facing more minions of Goongbon.  In the middle of the fight, the two are being overpowered when Park Tae Seo, whose face is covered, arrives to help.  Gon, who has a great memory remembering other’s movements, know that it is Park Tae Seo.

Kang Chi, meanwhile, settles her mother in a bench. He tells her to rest for a while as he checks on his friends.

Kang Chi is on his way to help Yeo Wool and his friends when he sensed something and looks back to where he left his mother.  At that time, Wol Ryeong has appeared before Seo Hwa.

She calls his name. Wol Ryeong asks her if she knows him.  In between tears, the only thing Seo Hwa can utter is his name –Wol Ryeong.

Then Kang Chi arrives and stand in between his parents.  He tells Wol Ryeong he won't allow him to kill anyone and that he will stop him!
