GU FAMILY BOOK (Episode 5)

Choi Kang Chi, who is on a night shift duty at the Hundred Year Inn, is about to fight a pack of ninjas together with ace swordswoman Dam Yeo Wool, who was earlier practicing her sword skills.

Prior to this, the two had a serious discussion on how Yeo Wool knew about Kang Chi’s fear on king spiders and if they have met before.  When Yeo Wool asked the same question, Kang Chi said he couldn’t remember.
This hurt the young lady saying if Kang Chi couldn’t remember, then it is insignificant.  But Kang Chi seriously asked Yeo Wool if it would be significant if he remembers.  And just before Yeo Wool could answer, Kang Chi pushed her down because something almost hit them.  Then they two saw a black ninja running on the roof.  Kang Chi and Yeo Wool followed until they realized they were trapped in an illusion and must fight a pack of ninjas surrounding them!

Since it is an illusion, Kang Chi thought he couldn't get hurt. But Yeo Wool, amidst the fight, explains that though it is an illusion, one can still get hurt and die.  She added they only need to find the one ninja responsible for such illusion.  An unexpected event happened – Yeo wool finds her self facing death when a ninja strikes her! But Kang Chi blocks it and gets pierced in his arm instead!

Inside the room of Park Mu Sol, a fake Sujong visits the businessman.  Elated by the surprised visit of the monk whom he had not seen for 20 years, Park Mu Sol talks and asks Sujong about Kang Chi until he realized something is wrong.  He almost revealed Kang Chi’s secret.  Then he sees the monk changed from Sujong to masked ninja!  Guards at the inn finally arrived and saved the businessman.  Although the guards fought with the ninja, the intruder, however, managed to escape.

Back to where Kang Chi and Yeo wool, the ninja aimed at Yeowool but Kang Chi protected her, which led her to remember the first time she met Kang Chi when they were kids.  The incident is almost the same.
In the past, it was a big angry dog that wanted to bite Yeo wool.  Kang Chi protected her and gets bitten until he managed to tame the dog.  Later, the two kids talk and get to know each other.  While Kang Chi brags that he is not afraid of anything, a king spider glides in between them making Kang Chi scream and jump.  The little Kang Chi tells Yeo Wool not to reveal his fear to anyone or he will marry her.

Yeo Wool couldn’t stop herself – she hit Kang Chi’s head! Instead of saying thank you, Yeo Wool, who believes that Kang Chi is fated to her, rants telling Kang Chi that what he did was dangerous and one wrong move could have ended his life.  Kang Chi defends himself saying he is okay and that she should be thanking him for saving her life.

But fearless Yeo Wool hits Kang Chi again in the head!  She stressed that she is not weak or helpless that needs to be saved by anyone and that she can take care of herself.  Annoyed, Yeowool walks out.  She remembers how Kang Chi saved her when they were kids and their pleasant memories that go with it.

Since both are wounded, Yeo Wool sends a medicine to Kang Chi through Gon but instead of relaying her message, jealousy hit him and said something nasty to Kang Chi.  Kang Chi, in turn, hurls spiteful words to Gon.  Sincere gratitude failed to reach the concerned person due to such misunderstanding.

Kang Chi presented the captured assassin, who is one of the guards of Jo Gwan Woong. In his inquiry, guards tell Park Mu Sol that Su Jong arrived at the inn and warned them that something is happening at the room of Park Mu Sol.  This led them to save the businessman on time.

Kang chi, meanwhile, is sitting by the tree when Chung Jo arrives and checks his wound.  Chung Jo later hugs Kang Chi doubting if she can leave him and live without him.  Yeo Wool witnessed all these.  Before Chung Jo leaves, she begs Kang Chi to forget what she said saying its wedding jitters.

The following day, Park Tae Seo confronts Jo Gwan Woong for sending assassins to their inn.  Later, people at the Hundred Year Inn are busy preparing for the pre-marriage ceremony of Chung Jo.  While thinking of his conversation with Chung Jo the previous night, Kang Chi is approached by Sujong who came as guest at the inn.
He warns Kang Chi that he should not stay at the inn before sunset and must return after the sun rises.  Kang Chi is surprised by Sujong’s bits of information about him.  When Sujong disappeared from his sight, Kang Chi searched for him but to no avail.  Instead, he received the information that a high-ranking official is at the Hundred Year Inn.

Meanwhile, Park Tae So was ushered to their guest.  It turns out it is Yeo wool and Gon.  The two seemed to be acquainted. Yeo Wool and Gon accompanied Master Dam Pyeong Joon who arrives at the Hundred Year Inn to meet Park Mu Sol.  Park Mu Sol later receives an overwhelming visitor - Admiral Lee Soon Si.
The admiral explains to Park Mu Sol their group’s plans and goals – to build a huge vessel that will save the nation.  Presented with all these plans, Park Mu Sol agrees to help the Admiral and his team.  He orders Park Tae Seo to close all the door and windows before he opens a secret door which apparently is a huge safety room for thousands of silver!
When Kang Chi rushed to the office of Park Mu Sol, Kang Chi meets Yeo Wool and Gon.  A conversation-turned-argument ensued among the three. This stemmed from Kang Chi and Yeo Wool’s sincere gratitude for each other that did not reach them due to some misunderstanding.  Kang Chi even collared Gon! The two separated after the chief guard warned them to receive severe punishment if a fight ensues!

When Admiral and his entourage are bidding farewell to Park Mu Sol, the businessman called in Kang Chi and introduced him to the officers.  Park Mu Sol sounds like sending Kang Chi to them; the young man immediately reacts and refuses to leave the Hundred Year Inn.  Master Dam Pyeong Joon has ordered his daughter Yeo Wool and Gon to continue spying in the area.

The pre-marriage ceremony is being held when the police members barged in to search for Jo Gwan Woong’s missing guard. The chief of police tells Park Mu Sol and the crowd that they received reports about the missing man of Jo Gwan Woong. This puts Park Mu Sol in a bad light because he will be facing treason.

Kang Chi learns from his adoptive father about the chaos.  Then he remembers Sujong’s warning that he should leave before sunset.  But Kang Chi couldn’t leave behind his family knowing everyone is in danger.

The police continued searching for any item they think is a sign of treason – until they discovered a letter with an arrow sign.  When Jo Gwan Woong arrived, the police presented him the assassin - whom he claims he sent to investigate the rebels but in truth was sent to kill Park Mu Sol.  And after reading the letter with an arrow sign, Jo Gwan Woong claims that the letter states a mocking name used by the rebels that pertain to him.  Jo Gwan Woong implies that Park Mu Sol is the leader of the rebellious group!

Then Kang Chi appeared and untied Park Mu Sol. The police chief tells Kang Chi not to get involved because the case against Park Mu Sol is treason.  But Kang Chi defended him saying he paid his taxes, he helps the poor and hungry unlike Jo Gwan Woong who live off the state taxes, wastes his time at the gisaeng house and then harass innocent citizens. Infuriated, Jo Gwan Woong orders his deputy to get Kang Chi but the latter is strong to be defeated.  Another guard of Jo Gwan Woong tries to help and takes his sword.  Protecting Kang Chi, Park Mu Sol blocks the guard and gets killed!

Kang Chi runs to Park Mu Sol who instructs him to take care of Tae Seo and Chung Jo before he passed away.  Enraged, Kang Chi mildly transforms and vows to kill Jo Gwan Woong! But before he could even get any closer to Jo Gwan Woong, Sujong appears and uses his cane to stop Kang Chi – before they disappear!
