The twelfth episode begins
with Master Dam Pyeong Joon discussing some issues with monk
Sujong. He is inquiring if it is possible for Choi Kang Chi to become
human and if it safe for him living with human beings.
Sujong bluntly tells the school master that he is worried about his daughter, Yeo Wool. Sujong tells him that he already warned Yeo Wool to avoid Kang Chi if possible because one of them may end up dying. He added that it is impossible to undo fate and once fate connection has been established, it cannot be reversed.

Choi Kang Chi is chained while Park Chung Jo is
seized by almost a dozen hunters surrounding them. The two are on their
way to escape after Kang Chi and Yeo Wool collaborate to help Chung Jo run away
from the gisaeng house where the vicious and obsessed retired officer Jo Kwan
Woong wants to sleep with her. Choi Kang Chi was about to confess his
real identity as half human, half mythical creature to Chung Jo when the group
of Ma Bong Chool interrupts them.
Park Tae Seo, Chung Jo’s brother who gave earlier his blessing for Choi Kang Chi to leave the academy with his sister, approaches
Kang Chi with a sword and he will kill Kang Chi. Both Kang Chi and Chung
Jo couldn’t believe what they are seeing. Park Tae Seo asks for Kang
Chi’s forgiveness before he approach. Seeing Tae Seo aims to take
off his bracelet, Kang Chi begs him not to but Tae Seo continue with his
plans. Kang Chi falls on his knees when Bong Chool hits him in the
stomach. Heavy wind circles around them as Kang Chi transforms to his
mythical being!
Everyone surrounding Kang Chi are astounded by his
transformation. The angry mythical Kang Chi is facing Tae Seo when Bong Chool
tries to hit him but gets blocked. This prompted Tae Seo to strike Kang
Chi but the mythical creature gives him claw marks. Tae Seo falls on the
ground.
Kang Chi is suddenly confused and wants to come
closer to Tae Seo when Chung Jo, who is now beside her brother, aims to throw
stones at him. When Kang Chi steps forward, Chung Jo throws rocks and
dried leaves at him. She screams at Kang Chi to leave them but while
doing so she fainted. Worried, Kang Chi approaches Chung Jo when Bong
Chool and the rest of the hunters attack him.
Meanwhile, Yeo Wool went after Kang Chi because she
wants to bid him goodbye for the last time. In the woods, she heard the cry of
Kang Chi but Gon heard none. Soon they heard more growling. They
find Ma Bong Chool and his men bleeding on the ground. Gon found Kang
Chi’s bracelet on the floor. He thinks Kang Chi has gone violent again
plus Chung Jo is missing.
An angry and disappointed Admiral Lee Soon Sin arrives at the
martial arts academy, immediately confronting Master Dam Pyeong Joon about Kang
Chi’s decision to leave. He reminds the teacher that he entrusted Kang
Chi to him. Master Dam should have stopped Kang Chi.
Master Dam explains he is not capable to take care
of such child and he fears that someone might get hurt in keeping Kang Chi.
But the admiral accused him that it is not true
that he is incapable but he doesn’t want to help and the desire to help.
The two officials were interrupted with a report that Jo Gwan Woong’s men are
heading towards Neung Gok Hill, the place where Kang Chi and Chung Jo were
supposed to go.
At the Neung Gok Hill, Gon and Yeo Wool sees a
group of Jo Gwan Woong guards who they think are after Kang Chi. The two
are wondering how did they find out about Kang Chi’s whereabouts. Knowing
Kang Chi is in danger, Yeo Wool leads Gon to Kang Chi’s safe hiding place –
Moonlight Garden. However, for Yeo Wool’s unknown reason, they couldn’t
find it.
At the Moonlight Garden, Park Chung Jo is startled
to wake up inside a cave. Then she sees the mythical side of Kang
Chi. Kang Chi introduces himself.
Chung Jo asks him if he is not human. But
Kang Chi could only apologize for showing Chung Jo his mythical side.
Chung Jo's relentless questions follow like where is Tae Seo and if he
kills his brother.
Kang Chi tries to get closer to Chung Jo but the
lady doesn't want him to come near her. Worse, Chung Jo tells the man in
love with her that he is not Kang Chi because he is not a monster like the man
standing in front of her. Then she runs out of the cave.
Jo Kwan Woong is in the mountain. He sees the
hunters who are all terribly wounded. Bong Ma Chool tells him what he
witnessed. Then Jo Kwan Woong remembers Wol Ryung and compares him with
Kang Chi. Remembering when Seo Hwa almost threw up in front of him two
decades ago, he realizes Kang Chi is Seo Hwa’s son. He turns to Chung Jo
and asks for Kang Chi. Chung Jo denies Kang Chi’s whereabouts. Deputy Seo
Bo Goo who found her lost in the woods seconded her statement. Then two
of the guards arrive carrying Tae Seo who begs to Jo Kwan Woong to release his
sister. But the wicked retired officer kicks him and tells his men to
send him to the police.
Chung Jo begs for her brother’s life but when the
retired official asked for Kang Chi, she couldn’t reply. Jo Kwan Woong tells his deputy to bring her
to the inn while the rest of the hunters were ordered killed.
Jo Kwan Woong proceeds to the academy. He confronts Dam Pyeong Joon for not killing
Seo Hwa and let her child, whom the
officer called monster, live. Dam Pyeong
Joon tells him that he doesn’t use violence to helpless people. When the master turns his back to get back to
his office, Jo Kwan Woong holds him by his shoulder reminding him that it is
the master who killed Kang Chi’s father.
He wonders what Dam Pyeong Joon intends to do. The martial arts students react to Jo Kwan
Woong’s behavior and aim their swords towards the retired officer. The guards of Jo Kwan Woong did the same to
protect their boss.
But the former sheriff orders his men to put down their
swords and asks Jo Kwan Woong to leave.
But instead, the vicious official threatened him saying there are suspicious
that the master is conniving with the admiral and whatever they are scheming,
he will not just sit and watch. In his
office, he advises the admiral to spend the night in the academy.
In the mountain, Yeo Wool is holding Kang Chi’s bracelet. She is worried that he is in trouble now without the bracelet.
Meanwhile, Kang Chi wakes up in the cave. He
remembers what Chung Jo tells him then remembers his missing bracelet.
He returns to the spot where he was chained
but couldn’t find it. He smells the
bracelet is with Yeo Wool and leaves to find the swordswoman. He passed by the hunters who chained him, all
dead except Ma Boong Chool, who upon seeing him asks for help and begs for
forgiveness. But the fierce Kang Chi
refuses to help because of Ma Boong Chool’s wicked character. He leaves but Ma Boong Chool begs him. Kang
Chi returns to where Ma Boong Chool is, took his knife and the latter screams.
At the academy, the fierce and mythical form of
Kang Chi sneaks in. He walks further
hoping none would see him but one of the students catches him. When asked, Kang Chi moves but gets
surrounded by students and teachers.
The
master checks out the commotion. He
learned it is Kang Chi. He talks to Kang Chi asking him why did he come with
such gruesome look. Kang Chi reveals he
is looking for Yeo Wool to which the master rejects his request saying he will
not allow Yeo Wool to see him like that.
When Kang Chi raises his voice, one of the teachers attack him prompting
him to strangle the teacher on the floor.
He warns the rest not to kill him lest he will kill them. The master tells Kang Chi to let go of the
student or he will kill him but Kang Chi refuses. Dam Pyeon Joong is ready to slash Kang Chi
with his sword when Yeo Wool arrives and stops his father. The master tells her to move but Yeo Wool is
also firm in disobeying her father. She
reminds her father about his teachings that there are no evil men, just bad
circumstances which Yeo Wool believe is Kang Chi’s situation.
Upon hearing how
Yeo Wool defends him, Kang Chi loosens his hold to the teacher who soon gets
away from his nearly death. The master orders Yeo Wool to move because Kang Chi
is not human. It took her sometime to
muster a lot of courage to move.
But to
everyone’s surprise, Yeo Wool moves beside Kang Chi and holds his hand! Yeo Wool stress she will not leave and step
aside. Kang Chi is totally surprised and
touched by Yeo Wool’s gestures that he changes back to his human form.
Later the Admiral Lee Soon Sin is having a heart-to-heart talk with Choi Kang Chi. The young man tells the officer that someone he thought of as a brother betrayed him and someone dearest to him threw rocks at him and called him a monster.
The admiral tells him it doesn’t matter what others
think about him. What is important is what he thinks of himself.
Kang Chi reveals he thinks he is no longer human. Then the admiral asks him what does he want
to live as now but for Kang Chi he is just half of anything.
The admiral shares a man needs a friend to share his
goal, a woman to share his heart with and a nation to serve with all his heart.
But Kang Chi believes there is no one to do such things with him because he is
a mythical creature. The admiral
reiterates that he had seen a number of men who acts like less than animals
adding what determines Kang Chi’s humanity is not his blood but it is by the
decision to be righteous to live a good life.
The admiral asks Kang Chi again what does he desire to live as. Kang Chi admits he wants to become human, a
full human.
Outside the room, Yeo Wool is waiting for Kang Chi.
When Yeo Wool approached her, Kang Chi asks her why is she so good to him. Yeo Wool tells him that it is her desire to
do everything she can for him.
Ma Bong Chool wakes up and remembers what happened
and how Kang Chi saves him. Meanwhile,
Chung Jo is brought to the quarters of Jo Kwan Woong.
The retired officer tries to convince her to
submit herself to him but the young lady refuses because she hates the man who
killed her father. She said she’d rather
die than be with him and asks him to let her go. But the obsessed Jo Kwan Woong is now
unstoppable and becomes victorious in taking what he wants from Park Chung Jo. Then a flower falls from the tree symbolizing
Chung Jo’s situation.
The following morning, Yeo Wool tries to use her
charm to reconcile with her father but to no avail. The two ends up discussing Kang Chi, Yeo
Wool, the present and the future. Yeo
Wool stress that once Kang Chi obtains the Gu Family Book and becomes human
again, his fate will change it adding she doesn’t want to avoid the present
that is in front of her because of fear on what might happen in the future. Meanwhile, Choi Kang Chi is in his room,
thinking.
At the Hundred Year Inn, Chung Jo is dressing up
when a guard announces that he brought Park Tae Seo. Fuming mad, Chung Jo leaves the room
immediately but meets her brother on her way out.
Park Tae Seo asks why is she in Jo Kwan
Woong’s room to which the wicked officer answered that his sister saved him. Park Chung Jo leaves the room. Devastated by the news, Tae Seo runs amok and
aims to kill the official but gets hit by Deputy Seo. Jo Kwan Woong gives Tae Seo a new instruction
and warns him that if he disappoints him again, his sister will pay a bigger
price.
Chung Jo returned at the Choong Hwa Gwan. She tells the head gisaeng she wants to
become an elite gisaeng and start her life over again while Park Tae Seo
returns to the academy. Kang Chi sees
him. He plans to ignore him when he
remembers what Park Moo Sol told Kang Chi the night he died.
Tae Seo is telling master Dam Pyeong Joon that he
wanted to be like his late father but couldn’t because he is incapable. The master asks him if he is the one who
turned Kang Chi into his mythical creature.
Tae Seo couldn’t answer because Kang Chi interrupts them. Kang Chi orders Tae Seo to look at him but
the latter refuses. Kang Chi rants that
he wants to talk to someone on how he looks and what he feels and Tae Seo is
the only one he can talk to. But as soon
as Tae Seo looks at Kang Chi, he punches him relentlessly. And when Tae Seo can look straight into his
eyes, Kang Chi tells him that’s the way good friends do.
Master Gong Dal learns from Dam Pyeong Joon that it is Kang Chi’s heart that has broken Tae Seo’s hypnosis. Dam Pyeong Joon reveals that he is planning an all-out war with Jo Kwan Woong. Gong Dal reveals that such action will require a meeting with the Four Masters.
Meanwhile, Jo Kwan Woong receives information about
the Four Masters, the four hidden men who possess money, knowledge and fighting
skills. Deputy Seo believes the four are helping the admiral. In the middle of their conversation, Choi Ma
Reum walks in to advise that they have a merchant guest.
At the academy, Yeo Wool and Gon will start to
watch over Kang Chi. They will help him
to become human. The first instruction
is for Kang Chi to count how many beans are inside the sack Yeo Wool brought
for him. While counting, Yeo Wool asks
Kang Chi about his parents. Then, Kang
Chi forgets the last number and repeats from the start. While counting, Kang
Chi sense something is wrong in the forest,
In the middle of the forest, the leaves slowly wither. Then a pair of
red eyes open!
Is Wol Ryung the creature who wakes up in the forest?
Who is the merchant guest at the Hundred Year Inn? Will Kang Chi’s desire to become human come
true?
